Carlos Sainz: “In 2022 there was the feeling that Ferrari is gradually returning to the top. We expected to at least stay at the same level. And not only I was waiting for this, but the whole team.
When it turned out in the first races that we were half a second behind Red Bull, it was not easy. We had to start over, go back to the blueprints, make sure we all stay as motivated as possible.
If we were now fourth in the Constructors’ Championship, but knew that every weekend we have the chance to take pole position and win the race, it would be easier to accept.
Red Bull’s speed this season has surprised us. And I don’t think just us. Mercedes and Aston Martin certainly did not expect to be so far behind.”
