A few years ago we talked about the construction of the KymiRing motorsport complex in Finland to host MotoGP events. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the track’s owners had to abandon plans and the track never passed homologation.
As a result, due to downtime and debts of 25 million euros, external management was introduced in the management company of the autodrome. The administration is trying to find funding sources and Valtteri Bottas could be one of the project’s investors. The Alfa Romeo racer said he had already conducted preliminary negotiations, but it was too early to talk about his participation in the project.
Valtteri Bottas: “I want Finland to have a full-fledged international circuit. The problem is that the management company has gone bankrupt, so there is a tough road ahead. I negotiated to see if I could help or do anything. But for now, it’s just conversations.
The peculiarity of Finland is that we have full winters, so at this time of the year it is impossible to hold races on the track. I’m looking into the matter to see if there are any options.”
