Piastri: Tom Stallard and I are on the same wavelength

Judging by the words of the McLaren management, the team is satisfied with the racers, but Oscar Piastri, of course, evaluates his work quite self-critically, in particular, he emphasizes that the process of building relationships with Tom Stallard, his race engineer , is ongoing yet.

So far they have only worked together for five Grand Prix and although they are already starting to “get used to” each other, this is not enough to come to a full understanding.

“We are doing very well. Tom has a wealth of experience in Formula 1, – quotes Piastri edition Speedcafe. – As we spend more race weekends, we will get to know each other’s working style better and better. Before the start of the season we did everything we could to make sure we speak the same language and are on the same wavelength. I think we are successful in that.

There are certain things that don’t show up until you qualify or race under pressure, but I think it’s going really well. No one’s complaining – there are just a few nuances we can still change, but overall it’s a pleasure to work with Tom. ”

As a matter of fact, Stallard is a former rower who once played for the British national team and won a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Soon after, he started working at McLaren as a race engineer, working alongside Jenson Button, Stoffel Vandorn, Carlos Sainz, Daniel Ricciardo, and now it was Piastri’s turn.
