Liam Lawson angry about missing pole

This weekend the fourth leg of the Japanese Super Formula series will take place at the Autopolis circuit near the town of Hita, and Liam Lawson once again demonstrated his speed. Admittedly he didn’t take pole position and the Team Mugen New Zealand pilot is a little upset by these conditions, but he has a fighting spirit for tomorrow’s race.

“Qualifying went well,” said Liam, who finished second. – I think we laid a good foundation during morning practice, although by the time qualifying started the conditions had changed noticeably, it got much hotter and the track warmed up more.

To be fair, the car did well in qualifying, although it skidded a bit more going into turn 8, leading to noticeable lap time losses. So I’m a little bit angry that I missed pole position today, but I’ll still start from a good position tomorrow.

We showed great speed in qualifying and we are generally good with race pace, so I hope we can take advantage of that this weekend, especially as anything can happen during the race. The most important thing is to get off to a good start and then we’ll see how everything goes.”

You can understand Lawson’s feelings as he only lost a tenth to Sho Tsuboi, who won pole position, and he is optimistic because Team Mugen has a very fast car. No wonder Liam won his debut race in Super Formula, finished in the top five in races two and three and is third in the individual standings to date. Incidentally, Tsuboi, who starts from pole position tomorrow, is only two points behind him.
