The film about Markus Erikson was liked by the fans

This Sunday, the legendary Indy 500 race will start for the 107th time at the Indianapolis Speedway and this weekend there will be qualifying races in several stages. The last session, in which the 12 fastest racers take part, will take place today, it will be nine o’clock in the evening in Moscow, but for now the pre-qualification is over and we can say that the best time of these 12 was shown by the Swede .

But not Markus Erickson, last year’s triumphant Indy 500, but his compatriot Felix Rosenquist, who drives for Arrow McLaren. However, Marcus did not lose much to him and showed the 10th result, so he still has very good chances.

Of course Erickson’s fans are watching him with interest this year and he already has a win and a podium to his name this season, so for now the Swedish rider of the Chip Ganassi Racing team is 3rd in the individual standings of the series. But this public interest is also fueled by the fact that quite recently, first in the USA and then in Sweden, the premiere of a documentary about Markus and his career, filmed by director Eric Stenborg and the Stockholm company Katagarma, took place. place.

Under the moniker of “Releasing the Dragon,” Erickson and his race engineers Brad Goldberg and Angela Ashmore share detailed memories of each of last season’s stages, culminating, of course, in the Indy 500 for Marcus.

“There was a cool and clever approach to this whole story, and when I watched the movie, I couldn’t hold back the tears by the end,” Marcus shared. – Of course I’m biased, but I think the filmmakers did a great job, and I’m glad everyone can see it now. I know how important that victory was to me, but I also saw how much it meant to my loved ones and to other people – this is a very moving moment.

In addition to Erickson himself and Chip Ganassi Racing engineers, IndyCar stars such as Pato O’Ward, Alex Palow, Scott Dixon, Joseph Newgarden, Tony Kanaan, Scott McLaughlin and others participated in the film.

Apparently the fans liked the movie, and here’s just one of their many reviews: “I’ve been a fan of Marcus for over a decade and I know how hard he works and how many difficulties he had to overcome. It was a great experience for me to watch a movie dedicated to his most important achievement to date. Goosebumps literally ran all over my body, and closer to the credits, my eyes were in a wet spot.

It can be added that the film Unleashing the Dragon – as it is called in the original – received very high marks from film critics.
