Williams had no luck during qualifying in Baku. Albon climbed into the airbag behind Alonso’s car, but the Spaniard went off the track, causing yellow flags to appear and Latifi’s car had gearbox problems.
Alex Albon: “We had a good qualifying, we did everything we could. It wasn’t easy to break through into the second part of qualifying today, but after the session was interrupted by red flags, there was an opportunity. I’m 99% sure that if I hadn’t made a mistake in the last corner and used the slipstream, I could have continued.
Otherwise I don’t think we could work better today, but tomorrow anything is possible. Usually this race is full of incidents – it can help us.
Nicholas Latific: “Typical qualifying in Baku with yellow and red flags. On the first set of tires I couldn’t get a good time and on my best lap the box missed a few gears in a few corners so I got into the wrong gear which affected my speed.
I had to play a lot of time, but I knew I could do it in the second set. Unfortunately this proved impossible due to red flags and a restart at the very end of the session. Tomorrow I will fully focus on the race, where anything can happen.
