Honda confirms partnership with Aston Martin

Honda has confirmed a return to Formula 1 as an engine supplier for the 2026 season and a partnership with Aston Martin.

The team will be called Aston Martin Aramco Honda
and will effectively become a factory for the Japanese manufacturer, allowing optimal integration of the power plant into the chassis on the way to the goal set by management – the fight for the championship title.

Martin Whitmarsh, CEO of Aston Martin Performance Technologies: “Mercedes has been and will continue to be a great partner. They want to win, we are here to win too – there is some incompatibility in these two missions, so we made this decision.

If you want to be number one, you also have to beat Mercedes, and it is extremely difficult to beat such a strong organization when you depend on them for intellectual property, equipment and components.

Previously, our team was able to achieve good results with a modest budget, but now the situation has changed. We want to win, and the technical regulations of 2026 require not only the full physical integration of components and parts, but also at the level of operational processes. It is impossible to win without full cooperation, which is why we made this decision and are delighted to have such a fantastic partner as Honda.”
