Before the start of the weekend in Monaco, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff spoke about Monaco…
Toto Wolff: “With the cancellation of the Imola race, our thoughts remain with the people of the Emilia-Romagna region affected by the terrible floods. We are saddened by what we saw, but impressed by the work of the rescue services and the resilience of the residents. We look forward to returning to Imola next year in more positive circumstances.
Stage in Monaco opens the European part of the season. The street circuit is unique, this weekend we’ll be testing an updated version of the W14, but we’re not jumping to conclusions after one stage – this is the first step in the car’s new direction.
We don’t expect miracles – in our sport they don’t happen in my experience, but we hope that the drivers get a more stable and predictable car, which we will continue to work with in the coming weeks and months.
Formula 1 is very competitive and meritocracy. We are not yet where we want to be and we have to work hard to move forward.”
