Norris: We strive to improve every race

McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will battle for points on the Monaco city circuit this weekend.

Lando Norris: “First of all, I would like to wish all the best to those affected by the floods in the Emilia-Romagna region. We all love racing at Imola, but safety is paramount and I support the decision to cancel last week’s Grand Prix. We will be back and I hope everyone is staying safe during these trying times.

Monaco has a historic circuit that I and the team have fond memories of. I am very proud to be on the podium in 2021. We are celebrating our 60th anniversary at McLaren this year and the MCL60 will have a special livery for the upcoming race, which I am very excited about.

This season the results have not yet lived up to expectations, but everyone on the court and in the starting line-up is working hard to earn points in the upcoming doubles. We will continue to work hard and strive to improve every race.”

Oscar Pistri: “The events in Emilia-Romagna have touched many people and my thoughts are with them at this difficult time. I hope everyone stays safe and continues to get the help they need. Safety is the top priority and I look forward to playing Imola for the first time in the future.

I am looking forward to the race weekend as it will be my first return to Monaco since a double podium finish in Formula 2 in 2021. An interesting challenge awaits me on the Monte Carlo urban circuit in a Formula 1 car. The fact that the MCL60 being painted in the colors of the Triple Crown makes the stage even more exciting.

I worked a lot on the simulator during the preparation for the race. Every time I ride I learn something new. The team is focused on taking the next steps forward and making the car faster. The double series of rides in May-June is a great opportunity for this.”

Andrew Stella, team leader: “I would like to start by expressing my support to all the people of Emilia-Romagna who are going through difficult times. It was imperative to put the safety of local residents first, which is why teams, fans and all our colleagues in Formula 1 were not allowed to influence local authorities and emergency services. This week we return to Monaco, but we remember all those affected.

At the base, the team continued to upgrade the machine and prepare new items that we will introduce in the coming stages to make the MCL60 more competitive. In Monaco we are waiting for a unique stage on a difficult circuit for the team and the riders, where there is no room for error.

Historically, Monte Carlo has had a great racing atmosphere and we all love coming to this stage. The special Triple Crown livery will make this race very special and we look forward to getting started.”
