Kevin Magnussen scored no points in four races in a row. The Haas driver hopes to return to the top ten at the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix.
Q: The last time Formula 1 came to Montreal in 2019. Tell us about the features of the Gilles Villeneuve circuit and your racing memories here?
Kevin Magnussen: Montreal is a cool city. The track is also good and quite unique – it combines the characteristics of urban and stationary – I like it. At the same time, there are many bumps on the track, so it will be difficult to drive new generation cars because they are very heavy. I’m sure we have an interesting challenge ahead of us.
Q: In 2017 you finished 12th in Montreal, which was your best finish at this track with a Haas. Do you think you can earn points this year?
Kevin MagnussenA: There is no doubt that our job is to earn points. I think you can count on such a result because of the speed of the car and I am looking forward to the start of the weekend.
Q: In 1998 your father Jan Magnussen finished sixth in Canada and your teammate Mick’s father Michael Schumacher won that race. What does your father think of your return to Formula 1 and what is it like to race with relatives?
Kevin Magnussen: It’s always great when the family comes to the races – they’ve been an important part of my career since I was a kid, so I’m glad they’re supporting me in the races now.
It’s easier with my father, of course, because he also drove in Formula 1. You can discuss anything with him, because he understands everything I say. Everything I’m talking about, he experienced himself.
Q: The stage in Canada is the last outing until October. Will racing in Europe somehow affect your work during the season?
Kevin Magnussen: It’s nice to start the European part of the season after the stage in Canada. No difference in time zones and short flights – I’m waiting for all this!
