In Monaco, Haas is holding the 150th race in its history. At a press conference on Thursday, Kevin Magnussen spoke about how the team has changed over the years and expressed hope that he can pick up points this weekend.
Kevin Magnussen: “How time flies! I don’t feel like we’ve had that many races and that much time has passed. The Haas team has become my home in Formula 1, having spent most of the races here, not counting a season at McLaren and a season at Renault.
The team has changed a lot over the years. The structure has not changed much – we continue to work with Dallara and Ferrari, but the team has grown significantly, new employees have been added.
Haas entered Formula 1 as a truly new team and built everything from the ground up. This is an interesting approach that differs from other teams. I believe we have achieved great success. Gene Haas and Günther Steiner have done a lot for this.
The best memories? First place in qualifying in Brazil last year. That pole position was a big surprise – I don’t think anyone expected such a result from Haas.
This year we are not able to achieve stability in the results, but we have a good car in terms of speed, as we have seen on different types of tracks. This gives me confidence that we will perform well in Monaco.
Our car has no specific weaknesses or strengths, but it allows you to fight for positions in the top ten. In Miami everyone crossed the finish line, during the race there were not even any yellow flags and in this situation I finished tenth. The team strives to score points in every race.”
