Bottas: I hope we can improve with the novelties

According to Valtteri Bottas, in Miami, everyone in the Alfa Romeo team improved as he managed to reach the qualifying final there, and now he hopes he can show even more confidence in Monaco.

Valtteri Bottas: “First of all, what happened in Imola is just terrible. I hope that support for those affected by the natural disaster continues to flow. Last Wednesday I was in a sort of surreal state because I gathered everything I needed and had to leave Monaco for Imola, but then they called me and said: “The race is cancelled, stay at home.”

Then I thought, “What should I do?” Since my friend was to participate in a gravel race in Scotland last weekend, I immediately bought a plane ticket and was able to register. It was important for me to be in a race because before Imola I had a very fighting spirit. And I can say that, in Scotland, I was ahead of the triathlete Alistair Brownlee, the champion of the 2012 and 2016 Olympics.

When we talk about the affairs of our Alfa Romeo team, I think in Miami we saw the light at the end of the tunnel, we were able to find the right settings and a good rhythm. There we went to the final of qualifying, and that was nice to see. This means that if everything is done correctly, it is possible to achieve better results than we have shown before.

Now we want to keep the momentum going. In Imola our team planned to present some technical innovations, but it is clear that now in Monaco we are going to try them and hopefully they will allow us to improve. Everyone at Alfa Romeo is working hard to achieve this because we are not performing at the level we want to be.”
