Gulf and Williams Racing have announced a fan vote to choose one of four proposed design options for the car, and the one that receives the most votes will be used by the team at the Singapore, Japan and Qatar stages.
Of course, all four variants somehow use the traditional colors of Gulf, an American oil and gas company with historically close ties to motorsport, and this year it has become a sponsor of Williams.
Each of the four design options has its own name: “Bolder than Bold”, “Modern”, “Visionary” and “Traditional”. The color chosen by the fans will be reflected not only in the colors of Alex Albon and Logan Sargent’s cars during the three autumn stages of the season, but also in the colors of the racers’ overalls.
Voting takes place in three rounds, the first of which starts today, May 26. The result of the vote will be announced on Wednesday 12 July and the Williams show car in this design will be presented at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
James Vowles, Team Principal: “I am delighted to announce the livery vote taking place as part of the partnership between Gulf and Williams Racing. The design variant that wins becomes a symbol of the collaboration between the two brands famous in the motorsport world.
Our fans’ voting will personally influence the course of history, and I can’t wait to find out which option will win.”
