Mekis: As long as I keep doing my best for Ferrari

The Ferrari drivers finished Friday practice in Monaco with 2nd and 3rd fastest times, although Carlos Sainz crashed the car towards the end of the day. However, Scuderia sporting director Laurent Mequis believes that the first day of this important race weekend has gone relatively well.

Laurent Mekis: “In general, we can say that practice went well, we wanted to give both drivers as much opportunity as possible to work on track, and this is a conscious approach – everyone saw that our cars were hardly parked. in the garage.

At the same time, we understand that we need to keep working to build rider confidence so that they can fully exploit the machine’s potential, and this process is still ongoing. We know that both Charles and Carlos can show very high speeds on this circuit and it is our job to create the right conditions for them.”

As Mekis is about to move to AlphaTauri and will take over from Franz Tost as team principal, but is still at Ferrari, he was asked when the move could take place.

“The decision on exactly when this could happen has not yet been made,” replied the French specialist. “Until then I will continue to give all my strength to the Scuderia, do my best and wear a red uniform!”
