Charles Leclerc set the second fastest time in the second practice session of the Monaco Grand Prix, just 0.065 seconds behind Max Verstappen. The Ferrari driver said the team was focusing on Friday’s preparation for qualifying.
His teammate Carlos Sainz was on the third line of the protocol after the results of practice, but crashed the car shortly before the end of the session.
Charles Leclerc (2nd): “Difficult day, because the car is not behaving as it should at all. We will have to study and work on the settings of the car so that I can get the right feeling of the SF-23 tomorrow.
It’s all about qualifying at this track, so we didn’t run a race simulation, but focused on the best preparation for Saturday’s session.”
Carlo Sainz (3rd): “Overall, the day was positive. We were fast in both sessions and the car was running well. Tomorrow I want to try a few more settings to improve, but overall we are quite competitive.
Of course it’s not good that I ended the session this way. I made a small calculation error when trying to find the limit. My apologies to the team and mechanics for adding work to them.”
