Max Verstappen showed the best time in the second practice of the Monaco Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing driver said the team still needs to work on the settings to stay ahead of Ferrari.
Sergio Perez finished the training with the seventh fastest time and lost more than five tenths to his partner.
Max Verstappen (1e): “The first training turned out to be quite difficult. I did not like the behavior of the car on curbs and bumps. In the second session the car behaved much better and was more competitive.
Compared to Ferrari, we lack the overall stability of the car – they are better in curbs and bumps. We have to work on this before tomorrow because Ferrari is very close to us. We need more speed to get ahead of them in qualifying. Fast not only Ferrari, but also Aston Martin. As I said, we have to keep working to stay ahead tomorrow.
In general, the car drives well. The start of the day proved difficult, but everything ended well.
Sergio Perez (7th): “Not the best day in terms of speed. In the first practice the car behaved better than in the second. We changed a lot between sessions and now we have to analyze everything to find the best settings for qualifying.
Everything can be decided in thousandths of a second on this track, so the car has to be set up as well as possible. We have no fundamental problems, but we need to adjust the settings.
We are waiting for a difficult qualifying, but it will be interesting. In qualifying it is crucial to get the tires in range at the right time.”
