Alex Albon qualified 13th and had the best finish for Williams in Monaco since 2018. His American partner fell out in the first session.
Alex Albon (13th): “Good day. We were behind all weekend and realized that the weaknesses of our car are especially noticeable here, but we kept working, made a lot of changes to the car after the third practice and were able to add. It’s always nice when the effort pays off.
The handling of the car improved, but in the first part of qualifying I used three sets of soft tires to get through. I was happy with my lap but lost a lot of time in traffic waiting for the tires to warm up. There is a feeling that we achieved more in qualifying than the car allowed. I hope it rains tomorrow.”
Logan Sargent (16th): “I was behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car in Monaco for the first time this weekend and so far I’m enjoying it. Every lap on this track will keep you in suspense. We are well prepared, tomorrow we have a long race, but I will do my best.
16th is not the best starting position in Monaco, but I want to have a clean weekend – show good pace, make no mistakes and get to the finish.
