Lando Norris: The results are disappointing for two reasons…

The McLaren drivers generally had a good run in Monaco, although Lando Norris was frustrated as he thought he could have climbed to a higher position only to get stuck in traffic in the final session. And Oscar Piastri didn’t have enough to make it to the final.

Lando Norris (10th): “The results of qualifying are frustrating for two reasons. First, it’s my own fault, because I hit the wall and ruined everything myself. But the mechanics did a great job, were able to fix the car and I am very grateful to them.

Unfortunately, in the last session, when I was on my best lap, I got completely blocked and it wasn’t our fault. Overall, qualifying turned out to be uneven, and unfortunately this is not the result we expected.

We probably couldn’t have climbed many positions higher, but maybe we could have shown the 8th fastest time, and in Monaco that means a lot. It’s a pity, but still we did a good job with a lot of tasks, so we’ll keep working and try to earn points tomorrow.”

Oscar Pistri (11th): “It’s a shame I didn’t qualify for the qualifying final as I missed quite a bit, but I’m glad we made progress. Since we had some difficulties in practice, I’m glad I was close to the last session.

I will start from 11th and tomorrow’s race can go in any scenario. In the evening we will work hard to understand what can be done so that on Sunday everything goes the way we need and we can finish in the top ten.

Andrew Stella, Team boss: “Qualifying was tight and eventful, but that’s generally the case in Monaco. Our riders will start from 10th and 11th place and we hope that both can continue to grow during the Grand Prix.

Oscar improved significantly compared to training, confidently coped with the task in the first qualifying session, and before reaching the finals fell short quite a bit. In Lando’s case, qualifying was disrupted when he hit the barriers in the second session, but his mechanics did a great job and repaired the car in time.

At the end of the final session, Lando took to the track, but unfortunately traffic interfered with his best lap, preventing him from showing a better result.

This is a bit frustrating, but still we start from a good position and have a chance to earn points. In the evening we will do everything we can to understand how to act so that these opportunities are as large as possible.
