Roberto Meri makes his Formula E debut in Jakarta

Roberto Meri, a Spanish driver with a very impressive streak dating back to 2006, is now gearing up for his Formula E debut.

“I am pleased to announce that I will be driving for the Mahindra Racing team in Jakarta,” the 32-year-old Spaniard writes on his social media pages. – Next weekend I will make my debut in Formula E and try to adapt quickly to the car. Thanks to everyone who made this debut possible!”

In the team he replaces Oliver Rowland and becomes Lucas di Grassi’s new partner. The reasons for such a decision are not stated. The Mahindra website states: “Mutual arrangements have been made between Rowland and the team and he will miss the next seven races.”

That. until the end of this season, the Brit will not return behind the wheel. Since the beginning of the year, Oliver has only scored 9 points, which is twice less than Di Grassi, who also does so-so. Weak performance may have become the main reason for replacing Rowland with Mary. Whether Roberto will drive all the remaining races is not entirely clear, as long as we only talk about the double Indonesian leg of the electric series.

Meri drove Mahindra’s car for the Formula E spring test in Berlin and made a good impression on the team.
