Ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, Red Bull Racing head Christian Horner spoke briefly about the challenges his drivers will have to solve by starting the race from opposite ends of the grid.
Christian Horner: “One of our riders starts from pole, the other from last position, and that turns out to be such a Red Bull sandwich! (laughs) Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez will have to follow different tactical schedules because they have different tasks.
It is clear that Max must try to fully realize the advantage of starting from first position and stay ahead until the 1st corner. For him, this is the most important thing, and Sergio and our strategists will have to be creative in choosing tactics. Now this is what is important for him, because it is very difficult to overtake here.
Of course Fernando Alonso, who starts from second position, has a very aggressive attitude, but that doesn’t really bother us. We will try to run the race according to our scenario, but a lot will depend on the first five hundred meters after the start.
