Athletistic/Formula-1. Max Verstappen took his second victory at the Monaco Grand Prix.

The race turned out to be surprisingly interesting and spectacular, as the rain in the second half reignited the situation. This led to some teams jumping to the right conclusions while other teams’ drivers struggled to keep their cars off the walls.

Max Verstappen won the Monaco Grand Prix and Fernando Alonso finished second. Third place on the podium went to Esteban Ocon, who had an excellent weekend and gave Alpine the first podium of the season.

In 4th and 5th we had the Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, followed by Charles Leclerc in 6th.

Race results:

Max Verstappen just dropped out of the league

This season there have been races in which Max Verstappen has won, as the Red Bull driver had an undeniable advantage in the form of the best car. Even in the Miami race where he won from 9th place, the only real problem he had to overcome was Sergio Pérez.

This was not the case at the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix. After the second qualifying segment, Max Verstappen finished fourth. It was a result that would more or less end any fight for victory on a track where overtaking is rare.

His superb third leg helped secure pole position after tough competition with three other drivers in three different cars. Later in the race he crossed the wet track on slick tires and kept his composure.

Max Verstappen won the Monaco Grand Prix, a race in which many pundits did not consider Red Bull a favourite. But the team and the driver just work at a different level than everyone else.

Sergio Perez proves at the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix why he’s not a title contender

Sergio Pérez was two laps behind Max Verstappen when the checkered flag announced the Dutchman’s Grand Prix victory, and the Mexican himself is to blame. This season we’ve had six races, and of those six Perez crashed twice on the first lap of qualifying.

He did it in Australia and reached the top 10 in a rather chaotic run. It crashed in Monaco and this time the driver just had a bad race.

The Monaco Grand Prix proved to everyone that Pérez was not the right driver to challenge Verstappen for the title. Max hasn’t had such a disastrous weekend, while Perez fails quite regularly.

Almost 40 points behind Verstappen, the Mexican may have to be careful and look back as Alonso closes the gap on him.

Alpine and Esteban Okon answered some important questions

In terms of overall performance, Alpine was behind Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes and Aston Martin at the Monaco Grand Prix.

What helped Alpine in Monaco, however, was the blistering pace of qualifying. Due to lack of overtaking on this track, Okon (3rd place on the grid) and even Gasly (7th place at the start) were able to achieve good results, but such results may not be on tracks where it is easy to overtake .

It was a great weekend for Ocon as the Frenchman overtook some of the top drivers on the grid this weekend.

On top of that, the racing acumen shown against Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton will come in handy if Okon gets his hands on a faster car. A positive weekend for both the team and the driver because the podium really changes things for the team.

Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton rewrite longevity in F1

Fernando Alonso destroys his Aston Martin teammate Lance Stroll in a race in a way father and team owner Lawrence Stroll must feel uncomfortable. If we look at Alonso’s results this season, we see his incredible consistency with five podiums in six races. Moreover, Alonso never finished below 4th place.

When you look at Lance, you see his mediocrity when you consider the fact that he drives the second fastest car on the grid.

Likewise, Lewis Hamilton’s performance was a timely reminder for anyone who doubted the soon-to-40-year-old legend’s abilities. He overtook Russell in Monaco and is fourth in the drivers’ table, ahead of a team-mate. Hamilton shows his hunger to win is still there as he waits for the right car.

Alonso and Hamilton have really rethought what it means to have a long career in F1.

Ferrari has a new team boss, but the same old problems

Ferrari is in trouble again as the Monaco Grand Prix once again showed erratic driving very similar to what we have grown accustomed to in the past.

After qualifying, Leclerc found the age-old curse of Monaco as the Ferrari driver picked up a three-place grid penalty. Then in the race, when the conditions mixed and the clouds cleared, there was again a miscalculation by Ferrari, the team left their drivers on the track too long.

The same confusion as in the past, but with a different Ferrari management.
