Prince Albert II is confident in the future of the Monaco Grand Prix after the current contract expires, but would prefer to negotiate without ACM chairman Michel Boeri, who has been organizing it for years.
Albert II: “Stefano Domenicali and Greg Maffei told me how they see the future of Formula 1. They want to make racing more dynamic and attractive, but they made it clear that a season without the Monaco Grand Prix is impossible.
The Monaco stage remains special for everyone in Formula 1. You can’t treat Monaco like other circuits. Of course, there are difficult moments in the negotiations when the parties are engaged in a “tug of war”, and that must change. There are agreements that we cannot cancel, we have limited space for the race, but I am confident that the parties will reach a compromise.
We will review the situation in 2025, focusing on sponsorship, TV production and merchandising. Both parties have an interest in this.
A new era is dawning in the history of the Monaco Grand Prix. Ecclestone’s time is in the past. We have to move on and look to the future. I don’t blame Boeri for having trouble adapting to the new situation. Perhaps it is better if someone else negotiates on behalf of ACM, such as Vice President Ferry, who has already attended many meetings.”
