Esteban Ocon: The goal is to score points in Montreal

Esteban Ocon considers the Montreal race almost home…

Q: How do you rate the results of the weekend in Baku?
Esteban Ocon: We were able to earn points, but overall – not the best weekend. Until Sunday we were competitive, on Saturday the car allowed us to compete in the top ten, but yellow flags prevented us. As a result, the team earned points with two cars, making the weekend a generally positive one. We learned and used this experience to perform better in Montreal and the races that followed.

Q: How do you prepare for the Canadian Grand Prix?
Esteban OconA: First of all, I am happy to be back in Canada. It’s been a long time since we got to this stage – one of the most popular on the calendar. The track configuration combines slow chicanes and fast straights where we are fast. Hopefully it helps us this weekend.

The aim is to pass all sessions calmly, work out our entire program without any problems, show our pace in qualifying and earn points in the race. I look forward to getting behind the wheel again.

Q: The last time you raced at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in 2018…
Esteban OconA: It seems like a lifetime has passed since then. I have always enjoyed racing in Montreal. I have always had strong support from French Canadian fans and the French community in Montreal. I know the atmosphere will be great which will add a good mood to the whole weekend.

Canadian fans are very passionate, I’m sure they will be very happy with the return of Formula 1 after a three year hiatus. Let’s hope we can have a good time this weekend.
