Four-time world champion Sebastian Formula 1 returns to the big sport in a leading role. The former Formula 1 driver has invested in the German sailing team SailGP.
Sebastian became a co-investor in the project along with two-time Olympic bronze medalist Eric Hale. The German sailor will manage the F50 catamaran and Sebastian will take an active role in managing the team.
Sebastian Vettel: “SailGP is entering its fourth season and first as a German team, and I see a lot of potential. Parallels between sailing and Formula 1 have long been drawn – catamarans look great and speeds on the water are incredibly high.
There are exciting races here and I am very happy to be with motivated young sailors. In addition, we not only use wind energy, but we also strive to set new standards for sustainability in sport.”
