After the podium in Monaco, Esteban Ocon is optimistic about the stage in Barcelona…
Q: You had a few days to familiarize yourself with the idea of success in Monaco. What are you feeling now?
Esteban Ocon: Those were great days! Climbing the podium in Monaco is every rider’s dream. Great that we succeeded! Now I’m starting to realize it.
Over the weekend our team worked hard on the track, at the bases in Enstone and Weary, we believed that such a result is possible. But we are not resting on our laurels, knowing that there is still a long way to go. We have ambitious goals and we want to achieve them. There is no time for rest and reflection in the run-up to the Spanish Grand Prix.
Q: Can this result turn the tide after a poor start to the season?
Esteban OconA: We hope so. We always knew we had a good car, but at the beginning of the year we were simply unlucky in some races. But in Miami and Monaco we scored points with two cars, showing good pace.
We have to keep working to compete with teams that are now higher in the championship. The past races have shown that we can show good results.
The season is long, there are many races ahead, every weekend you need to earn as many points as possible.
Question: There is a stage ahead in Barcelona, on a circuit that teams and riders know very well…
Esteban Ocon: Yes, in recent years we have been on this track most often to conduct races and tests. Let’s see what the new configuration of the third sector will change.
In general, the circuit in Barcelona has always made it possible to evaluate all aspects of the car. It is important to find the optimal settings before qualifying to get a good starting position for Sunday’s race. I’m looking forward to the start of the weekend and really want to consolidate the positive momentum.
