Last week in Monaco, McLaren earned points with two cars for the second time this season. Team drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are looking to repeat this feat at the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona.
Lando Norris: “It is great to leave Monaco with valuable points for the team. I liked the race, despite the difficult conditions, and closer to the finish I was happy with the pace. We have seen many positive things, based on which the team is preparing for Barcelona.
I am looking forward to playing on the Catalunya circuit. I’ve already earned points on this track in the past, so this time I’m hoping to complete a series of double stages with a successful performance.
Compared to last year, the configuration of the track has been slightly changed to sharpen the competition. I am curious to see how everything will turn out and what results we will achieve.”
Oscar Pistri: “I am happy to finish my first Monaco Grand Prix in the top ten. It’s a great way to start a series of double races and I learned a lot this weekend.
Barcelona has a great job so I’m happy to be back. I’ve already raced it in the past and won the sprint in Formula 3. It’s interesting for me to drive on a modified circuit for the first time. The new configuration should make racing more interesting and I hope we can score points again with two cars.”
Andrew Stella, Team Principal: “We left Monaco with two cars in a tough race, a very positive result for the team. We had good pace on the intermediate tires and overtaking Lando and Oscar in such difficult conditions looked promising.
Now we go to Barcelona for the final round of the double series. This year the circuit has undergone a number of changes, including the removal of the chicane, returning the race ring to its original configuration. The changes should make the track faster and the race more exciting with overtaking opportunities. I hope we can earn more important points.”
