Before the start of the weekend in Montreal, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff spoke about the challenges for the stage…
Toto Wolff: “The weekend in Baku was difficult for us, mainly because of the problems with the build-up, but we took all the opportunities and earned a lot of points. Retreats helped us, but reliability is an important factor in Formula 1, Brackley and Brixworth worked hard to get both of our cars to finish.
In terms of speed, we are again in the middle group of teams, although we are not far behind the top two. We are doing everything we can to narrow this gap. I like that, even with a poorly performing car, the team stays united and fights to get the best result, using the tools it has at its disposal. This fighting spirit will bring us back to the front lines.
We haven’t been to Montreal since 2019 and are happy to be back. It’s a beautiful city and Formula 1 fans love Canada. Racing around the track, where slow chicanes are connected by long straights, is a unique challenge for everyone. We are looking forward to the start of the weekend and hope to take a step forward.”
