De Vries: We are getting closer to the top ten

In Monaco, Nick de Vries took 12th place, ahead of Yuki Tsunoda, his AlphaTauri teammate, for the first time this season, and vowed to do everything in his power to continue the trend.

Nick de Vries: “The weekend in Monaco was more or less good, I was able to avoid problems despite the difficult circumstances. I have gradually picked up the pace and now we need to continue to perform at this level, trying to concentrate fully on the performance of their tasks and exploiting the machine’s full potential.

To be honest, I try to read less news, but today I have already been asked three times about the words Helmut Marko said about me after the race in Monaco. I don’t know much about who says what, but we live for today and you are only as good as how well you did in the last race.

It is clear that only the results are important and everyone makes mistakes. But we have to move on, and ahead of the new weekend. Admittedly, it’s still hard to say how AlphaTauri’s car will perform in Barcelona. We couldn’t test how effectively the new products work in Monaco for obvious reasons, so let’s hope we get more information during Friday’s practice.

But I see some progress and we are getting closer to the top ten. Let’s hope this trend continues.

I must admit that Formula 1 is very different from all the championships I have played in before, and one of the differences is that in the middle of the pack there is a very close fight, the level of rivalry is very high. Everyone is performing at the limit of their capabilities and gradually approaching it over the weekend – I’m talking about the capabilities of technology and the riders themselves. In general, other approaches are practiced in this championship.”
