Race in Melbourne will remain on the calendar until 2035

The Australian Grand Prix will be held in Melbourne until at least 2035: Formula 1 has announced the signing of a new ten-year contract with the Australian promoter.

The agreement also stipulates that Formula 3 and Formula 2 races will be included in the weekend program and that for the first time the stages of the youth series will be held on the circuit in Albert Park as early as 2023.

The Melbourne 2022 Grand Prix attracted 419,000 spectators this weekend, making it the biggest sporting event in Australian history and a testament to the love of Formula 1 among local fans.

For the past two years the race organizers have invested heavily in the modernization of the track, but this process will continue and in the future the reconstruction will affect the paddock and pit lane.

The 2023 Grand Prix date will be confirmed at a later date, when the calendar for the next season is drawn up, which has yet to be approved by the FIA World Motorsport Council.

Stefano Domenicalic, Formula 1 President and CEO: “I am pleased to confirm that Melbourne’s Albert Park will remain on the World Cup calendar until 2035. This race has always been loved by fans, drivers and teams as Melbourne is a beautiful and very interesting city, it is ideal for our sport.

I would like to thank the Government of Victoria for their tireless support and the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) for their longstanding partnership.”

Andrew Westacott, AGPC CEO: “This groundbreaking announcement means a lot to Melbourne and the State of Victoria. Thanks to him, our motorsport history will be even richer and Melbourne’s love of major sporting events will inspire a new generation of Australian racing fans.

We are proud of our strong relationship with Formula 1 and together we will contribute to the growth of the championship not only in Australia, but in the Asia-Pacific region. Everyone in our company is gearing up to take the Australian Grand Prix to the next level over the next 13 years.”
