Lando Norris assured that McLaren is slowly changing for the better, and the recent news of Rob Marshall’s arrival also falls into this category. Participating in the FIA press conference, Lando recalled the recent race in Monaco where he and his partner finished in the top ten.
Lando Norris: “The car remains as it is whether the race is in the rain or on a dry track. I don’t know why our chances in bad weather can be better than in good weather, but of course it was a lot of fun to fly in Monaco in the rain.
In such conditions, this track becomes even more difficult, you have to take a serious risk, although all sorts of nuances in the car’s behavior said that it still works more efficiently in the rain. In qualifying we didn’t show too impressive results, but on Sunday, when it started to rain, the picture certainly started to change for the better for us.
We were among those fastest on the wet track, but that doesn’t mean the McLaren car is one of the best. It’s a bit confusing, but on the other hand, if it rains again this weekend, it will help us.
At the beginning of the week it was officially confirmed that Rob Marshall would join us and bring his experience and knowledge, having worked for Red Bull Racing for many years and achieved great success with this team. There he worked with the brightest minds that are only in Formula 1, he is a very authoritative specialist and his arrival at McLaren is a very important event. This step will help the whole team to achieve our goal, ie show better and better results.
Now I have even more confidence in our team, in the fact that it can achieve this goal – I never said that I do not have this confidence in its strength. Especially recently there have been significant positive changes, the atmosphere in the team is changing, the results are gradually growing, although not everything works out immediately – in Formula 1 it takes time to achieve something. But I can confirm that changes for the better are indeed taking place.”
