Alex Albon: This circuit never suited us

The Williams drivers were in the last two places as per Friday’s protocol and Alex Albon admitted that the Barcelona track never suited their car. While the FW45 doesn’t make such a bad impression, it just lacks speed.

Alex Albon (19th): “This track never suited us, but I don’t think the car left a very bad impression. In general, there are no fundamental problems to be solved by tomorrow, but the mood is still not very good, because the FW45 is not yet fast enough.

If everything is done correctly, it will still be possible to find a few tenths, and we will try to do it, but we will not be able to add much, so the results will correspond to the level at which we are.

We can say that the gap to the leaders is not bigger than usual, but some teams in the middle of the pack, for example Haas, Alfa Romeo and McLaren, are doing a great job and losing only a tenth to Mercedes, and that complicates everything for us .

I liked the changes in the last two corners of the lap. Piloting has become physically more difficult, and this is always some kind of challenge, but overcoming such difficulties is fun and interesting.”

Logan Sargent (20th): “We worked well after the first session and were able to set up the machine more or less well for the second session. To be honest, the team is not yet at the level we want to be in terms of speed, so of course we still have to work on that.

I think the car is capable of a good pace in qualifying and the race, but tomorrow we just have to try to use its full potential.
