Esteban Ocon showed the fifth fastest time in the second training session in Barcelona, losing 0.335 seconds to the leader of the session, Max Verstappen. The French driver is happy with the car, but says there is still work to be done on short and long lap speeds.
His teammate Pierre Gasly showed the tenth fastest time and expects to reach the final of qualifying.
Esteban Ocon (5th): “The team had a productive Friday at the Barcelona circuit. We did a lot in both workouts, tested different things and completed the intended program. Between the first and second session we made the necessary adjustments to the settings, but there is still work to be done to make the car fast on an empty and full tank.
Overall we are happy with the work done today, but there is still a lot to do tonight to qualify for good positions in qualifying.”
Pierre Gasley (10th): “I would say we had a good day in Barcelona. The car handled well and the team started the weekend with confidence, with a foundation for further work. It’s great to be back on track and appreciate the updated setup that made the circle feel very fast.
We still have a few things to sort out, but this is the usual situation for Friday. I’m sure we’ll do well in qualifying, we’re aiming to reach the final.”
