In Barcelona, Lando Norris showed the 3rd time in qualifying, after which he frankly admitted that such a result was a pleasant surprise for him. The updated configuration of the Catalan ring seems to suit the McLaren car well, as the MCL60 is quite capable of handling high-speed corners.
Lando Norris (3rd): “I don’t even know how I did it! I’m surprised that I showed such a result, but it’s great, because I almost moved up to 2nd position! But this is Carlos Sainz’s home race and I thought I could give him a few tenths. (sly smile)
Of course I am very happy with the third result and it seems that the updated track configuration suits us well. I would say I liked it because fast corners are our forte.
Overall, qualifying wasn’t easy, but it seems we coped well with the difficult conditions – it seems they suit me too!
