Max Verstappen showed the best time in qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix and will start from pole for the fourth time this season. The Red Bull Racing driver noted that, despite the apparent simplicity, qualifying was not easy.
Max Verstappen (1st): “The car was really good. Qualifying proved difficult due to the weather, but gradually the track dried up and in the final the car drove like it was on rails. Today I enjoyed piloting.
I like coming to Barcelona, I like the circuit and the local fans because they like racing. I have many fond memories of the Spanish Grand Prix and I hope to add another one tomorrow!”
Sergio Perez (11th): “Not the easiest weekend. The conditions were constantly changing and I was not comfortable during qualifying. This weekend I tried to change my driving style but as the conditions started to change we hit a dead end, I couldn’t use the full potential of the car.
The track was a bit wet going into turn 5, I lost my rear end and crashed into the gravel, wasting a lot of time. This incident caused the tires to overheat on the last fast lap, which prevented me from adding.
I’m looking forward to the race and hoping to score points and maybe get on the podium.”
