For the Dutch driver, this is the fifth victory in seven races of the 2023 season. Verstappen, who won qualifying the day before, led from start to finish and set the fastest lap of the race.
Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell finished second and third respectively.
Verstappen’s teammate and closest contender in the championship, Sergio Perez, who started 11th, finished fourth in the race.
Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), who only showed 19th result in qualifying, finished 11th after starting from the pit lane.
In the individual standings, Verstappen leads with 170 points, Perez (117) is second, Alonso (99) is third. The defending champion’s advantage went from 39 to 53 points.
The next stop will take place in Canada from June 16-18.
