Max Verstappen: We had another strong weekend

Max Verstappen dominated the Spanish Grand Prix to take his third win in a row, the fifth of the season and the 40th of his career. Starting from pole, leading from start to finish and best lap, Max won his third career Grand Slam and equaled Nelson Piquet in this indicator.

His teammate Sergio Perez finished fourth. After the race in Barcelona, the gap of the Mexican Red Bull Racing driver in the individual standings to Max grew to 53 points.

Max Verstappen (1e): “It’s a great pleasure for me to drive such a car – today the RB19 showed its best again.

This time we opted for an alternative tire strategy, but for most of the race our choice was the right one. Just an incredible win on this track!

I started on harder tires than the competitors in the area, so I knew it was going to be difficult at the start. Going into the first corner in the outer radius is always difficult, but luckily nothing happened.

The team and I had another strong weekend. I hope we can keep this form all year.”

Sergio Perez (4e): “Today it was my job to minimize losses. It was difficult to follow the Mercedes, given that my tires completed the same number of laps as theirs.

My first segment turned out to be difficult – I should have taken more risks in the beginning. As I said, today it was important to minimize the losses after a difficult weekend. You have to understand what exactly was wrong – I felt like I had no speed all weekend. I hope we find answers and I will return to wrestling in Canada.

I have no trust issues. I have a strong season, but due to the fact that the range [машины] very narrow, you have to do everything perfectly to demonstrate a high pace.

I think we will be strong in the next stage in Canada, but as we’ve seen this weekend the margins are minimal. An interesting Grand Prix awaits us.”
