Okon: We still need to work on the race pace

For Esteban Ocon, the last Spanish Grand Prix was the third successful race in a row, and although the Alpine car didn’t allow him to repeat the success the Frenchman achieved in Monaco in Barcelona, he still earned points for 8th place.

Esteban Ocon: “The mood is still good because we can say that two weekends in a row were just great for us – in Monaco and Barcelona I earned 19 points, and if you add Pierre Gasly’s results to that, you even get more.

We have worked very productively in these two phases. Although, of course, we managed to climb the podium a week ago and have now finished in 8th place, the impressions are not entirely unequivocal, but generally quite positive. The team is very happy that the innovations we have recently introduced are effective, but we still need to work on race pace.

In qualifying we performed very well both times – both in Monaco and Barcelona, and we can be proud of that. I hope we have already managed to achieve stability in qualifying, but in the races we remain at the same level and we now have to pay maximum attention to that.
