Damon Hill: “Mercedes proved in the race that they had overcome the threat of Aston Martin and Ferrari on a circuit where aerodynamic efficiency and the car’s ability to handle rubber are important.
All circuits are different, but Barcelona is one of those places where you can appreciate the car’s overall efficiency and aerodynamic balance. That’s why Red Bull dominated, at least Max, but there are encouraging signs for Mercedes.
Maybe they can get even more out of the car, but I doubt you can stay ahead of Red Bull because the chassis will stay the same until the end of the season.
At Barcelona, Lewis said: “I love driving this car.” This is a good sign, he has been asking the team about this for a long time – and now there is a result. He has achieved his goal – for himself and the team.
It will be very difficult for them to get ahead of Red Bull before the end of the season, but if they can firmly establish themselves as a serious force, they will consider it a victory.
