In his spare time from Formula 1, Max Verstappen periodically participates in virtual races. The current world champion said that this is a hobby for him, which he takes very seriously and thinks almost more about virtual competitions than about his main job.
“Virtual racing is my hobby, but I take it very seriously,” Racingnews365 quoted Max Verstappen as saying. – I don’t think it hurts preparation for Formula 1, because it’s just another chance to test yourself.
Usually in virtual races I drive different cars, not Formula 1. I always think about how to improve my driving style, what better settings to choose – I like this kind of work.
When I go to bed I think about the simulator more than Formula 1, but only because I want to succeed in virtual racing. Sometimes they take up a lot of my time, but I like it.
It’s hard to say if participating in virtual races will help me in Formula 1, but I’m sure it won’t be a hindrance. I race online a lot in the off-season, so when I get behind the wheel of Formula 1 again I feel like I haven’t had a break.”
