There has been much talk in recent weeks about Daniel Ricciardo’s future at McLaren, fueled by the not-so-great results of the Australian and Zach Brown who said they were not up to par. In addition, the executive director of McLaren Racing publicly hinted that the contract with Ricciardo includes the possibility of early termination.
Daniel’s results leave a lot to be desired, only earning points in Australia and Azerbaijan, while his team-mate, Lando Norris, finished in the top ten in six out of eight races.
In Baku, Ricciardo took 8th place and as he prepares for the Canadian Grand Prix, he said: “I know the team is concerned about me and therefore expects me to perform at the level of my ability.
As for Zach Brown’s comments, I know very well how I’m doing and I take his words as a kind of veiled compliment because he also believes I can perform better.
My biggest critic is myself, so I don’t take it personally. A little pressure is always good. It’s not something that could offend or upset me.”
