This week, the McLaren team will conduct three-day private testing at the Hungraoring, the Hungarian circuit, which will host the 11th round of the World Championship at the end of July.
Three McLaren drivers will participate in the tests, who have different statuses: Oscar Piastri is part of the main team competing in Formula 1, Alex Palou is the reserve driver, but at the same time he drives in the American IndyCar series, he drives for Chip Ganassi Racing, and now lead the individual standings.
The Australian drove the 2021 MCL35M car on Wednesday, replaced yesterday by Palou, and today will be driven by Oliver Turvey, 36, one of the test drivers who has worked with the Woking team for many years.
No details are reported on the course of testing at McLaren, for example on yesterday’s test day held by the Spanish racer, only a short comment appeared on social networks: “A smile on the face of a person who had the opportunity to drive a Formula 1 car for a few more hours. Well done in Budapest, Alex Palou!”
