Daniil Kvyat: We’re still in the game, and this is the most important thing

Behind seven and a half hours of the Le Mans marathon, and so far Ferrari remains in the lead. The race is led by Alessandro Pierre Guidi, driving the #51 499P hypercar, 50 seconds ahead of Nico Muller’s Peugeot and more than a minute ahead of Kamui Kobayashi’s Toyota.

But this is in the general classification, but what happens in the LMP2 class?

In this category, the car of United Autosports, the team of Zach Brown, led for a long time: Tom Blomkvist, driver of crew No. 23, was in 14th place in the absolute standings. As he entered the pits at the start of the eighth hour, the sports prototype of the Europol team emerged.

And in 12th place in this class (25th overall) is the Prema Racing team trio, which includes Russian racer Daniil Kvyat.

“At the moment we are not losing much,” Daniil said on the Eurosport TV channel, as he prepared for the night shift. “I had a good first lap of the race, but there was an accident ahead of me with one of the hypercars and the wreckage of this car hit our radiator.

Because of this we had to go to the pits early and the pit stop was quite long, so we rolled back. But still, we lost so much time and are still in the game, and this is the most important thing.

Track conditions are constantly changing, on this track it can be rainy on one side and dry on the other. In such circumstances, all you need to do is persevere and remain calm. A long and sleepless night awaits. My shift is about to start and we’ll see how the conditions change, but as crazy as they are, I’m enjoying the race!”
