John Elkann: It was unforgettable!

John Elkann, president of Ferrari, was at Le Mans last weekend, spent a lot of time in the pits of the AF Corse team and witnessed the victory of the No. 51 team in the 24-hour marathon, after which he achievement called unforgettable.

Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi have done a really great job and delivered a great victory for Ferrari, the first in the new Hypercar category, in which the factory Maranello team has only been participating in the WEC since 2023.

This is Ferrari’s tenth overall win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but the previous one was won in 1965 by Jochen Rindt and Masten Gregory, then driving the North American Racing Team’s Ferrari 250 LM.

“It was an unforgettable day and I would like to dedicate it to everyone at Ferrari,” said Elkann after the race at Le Mans. “After 50 years, we are back to compete in the highest category of endurance racing, which holds a special place in our history and in the history of motorsport.

We are really proud to see the Italian team once again climb to the top of the podium at Le Mans, and this is the best way to celebrate the 100th anniversary of this important race.

This victory, achieved by Antonello Colletta (Ferrari Endurance Program Manager), Amato Ferrari (owner of AF Corse) and the whole team, from our mechanics to the drivers, despite the most difficult conditions, will be an example for all of us.”
