Ninth place on his debut in 2014 is Kevin Magnussen’s best result in Canada to date, but this weekend the Dane is eager to battle for points…
Q: Last year you had a great qualifying in Canada and you started fifth. Tell us about the characteristics of the track, why do riders love it so much?
Kevin Magnussen: I like the old school tracks with their own character, not as wide and safe as modern tracks.
The Canadian circuit is one of them. You can overtake on a long straight and racing is never boring. The weather there changes often, and in general there is always a great atmosphere at the Canadian Grand Prix.
Q: The Canadian Grand Prix will be your 150th Formula 1 race. We know you are not particularly interested in statistics, but at the start of your career did you think you would reach such a milestone? How do you see your future in Formula 1?
Kevin Magnussen: It’s great that I’ve been in Formula 1 for so long. As a child I dreamed of driving in this championship one day, and now I’m glad I had the chance to spend so many years and races.
If we talk about the future, I have a comfortable situation. I’m on a great team with great people. Sometimes I manage to fight at the front and connect my future with Haas F1. I really hope I can be a part of this future and see the fruits of our hard work.
Q: You were recently awarded the Overtake of the Month award based on a fan vote for overtaking Logan Sargent in Monaco.
Kevin Magnussen: It’s always nice when the initiative comes from the fans, especially on a weekend like Monaco, when we couldn’t do it. That was amazing. I want to thank everyone for their support and focus on achieving more meaningful results on the track.
