Max Verstappen won his first Canadian Grand Prix last year and is determined to repeat that success, but his team-mate, Sergio Pérez, is also determined to do better than 4th in Barcelona.
Max Verstappen: “It’s always nice to be back in Montreal, it’s a great city and the fans are great. The Canadian track is unique because in some corners you have to attack the real classic curbs. In addition, it is located in a very scenic area.
When setting up the car we try to find the exact balance between speed on the straights and the ability to attack the curbs well, the right compromise is important here. Of course I remember last year’s win in the Canadian Grand Prix well, so I hope we can get something similar this weekend.
Sergio Perez: “I want to get behind the wheel again this weekend. After the Spanish Grand Prix I was at the base of the team in Milton Keynes, working fruitfully with my engineers and we had a very constructive exchange of views.
I know what needs to be done to get back in top shape, I can do it, and together with the team we understand how to set up the car so that I can show high results.
In times like these it is all the more important to work together as a team, we all support each other in our effort to take victory in Canada. I have a beautiful car and when I drive it I always have a fighting spirit. In Montreal you have to work as consistently as possible to finish the weekend on a high note.
