The Williams team is preparing a number of technical innovations for the Canadian round of the championship, but they will only be installed on Alex Albon’s car.
Alex Albon: “We are going to Canada where it is quite a difficult track, but it should suit us a bit better as the level of downforce needed there is closer to average. In addition, I look forward to visiting Montreal again, because it is a city with a very cozy atmosphere.
Our car is getting some new products this weekend so it will be interesting to see how they perform. Everyone at Williams has done a great job preparing for these updates and I hope we can get a good result.”
Logan Sargent: “I really want to go to Canada for the first time, because from an early age I dream of performing on this circuit. The track is difficult, the barriers are very close to the exit of the high-speed chicanes, but I hope it suits us a little more than Barcelona and we can work well this weekend.”
Dave Robson, Chief Race Engineer: “Racing in Canada is always exciting and the track configuration helps. In addition, there is always the possibility of weather surprises, it can rain unexpectedly.
In Montreal, the dignity of our FW45 should be more pronounced than in Monaco and Barcelona. In addition, this weekend we are testing some upgraded components that will only be installed on Alex’s car.
We expect to be able to perform more competitively, although we will only understand during training on Friday whether the effectiveness of the new products meets our expectations.
It’s easier to overtake in Montreal than at the previous two circuits, which could open up more opportunities if we manage to get tire wear under control.”
