First part of free practice

In 2022, Formula 1 returned to Canada after a three-year hiatus with a new generation of cars and 18-inch tires. The stands were already full on Friday – in Montreal they missed Formula 1.
The information gathered in previous years no longer works, the teams expected to do a lot in practice, but the weather made its own adjustments – the forecast promises rain on Friday and Saturday.
The first session started on a dry track with partly cloudy weather, but a strong wind hindered, a cloud approached the track – and the riders were not in the pits.
On the 15th minute, Okon returned to the pits with a smoking right front wheel – and handed the car over to the mechanics. It turned out that debris got into the air duct from the brakes and overheated them, so the Frenchman soon returned to the track.
Verstappen complained about the performance of the suspension – the inner wheel was hanging in the corners, the mechanics solved the problem with the rear sway bar – and Max drove off again.
Tsunoda hit a concrete guardrail at Turn 9 and swerved into the pit to check the car. Sainz almost ran into a groundhog – for the weekend they have been resettled in another place, but this one has apparently decided to stay.
Max Verstappen set the fastest time with a lap time of 1:15.158.
