At a press conference in Montreal, Oscar Piastri spoke about the recent testing in Hungary, his first impressions of the Canadian circuit, but started by answering a question about the difficult Spanish weekend.
Oscar Piastri: “Even before the race we foresaw that we would have difficulties on the Catalan circuit and that was confirmed on Sunday. I think we understand what needs to be worked on and what exactly needs to be improved – it remains to find a solution to these problems.
From Barcelona we went to test in Hungary where I drove the MCL35, the 2021 car, and everything went well there – it’s always nice to spend an extra day in a Formula 1 car. driven more on the Hungaroring, but it’s a really interesting track, and you feel it especially good when you’re flying F1 vehicles.
There are a lot of fast corners where the car’s abilities really show off, so it was a glorious day!
But now I have to perform at the Montreal circuit for the first time. I was preparing for the Canadian Grand Prix, I was in the simulator and everything was as usual. Honestly, the experience wasn’t that different from what I remember from my childhood, when I played racing games on the computer.
I look forward to getting to know the circuit named after Gilles Villeneuve in real life. The track looks great, although it can be seen that the tarmac surface is uneven and quite dusty. Moreover, the weather promises all kinds of surprises. In general, let’s see how everything will develop, but I already want to start the job as soon as possible.
