Fernando Alonso qualified for the Canadian Grand Prix for the third time in the rain. Spanish driver Aston Martin is satisfied with the starting position and expects to impose a battle with Max Verstappen in the race.
Fernando Alonso: “A very difficult qualifying to get on track at the right time with the right tires. We take third place. I think we are in a good starting position.
Montreal has great fans – not only on the track, but also in the city. I like the way Formula 1 is organized in Montreal. Unfortunately on Friday the fans had to wait for us to get out on track, but I hope they enjoyed qualifying and will enjoy the race.
On Sunday we have the chance to put pressure on Red Bull. They have won races quite easily so far, but I hope they will have to try harder this time around.”
