Over the course of Friday’s second practice, Pierre Gasly, Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll violated the race director’s instructions, who had previously outlined the procedure for returning to the track in the event of a break from Turn 14.
The race director instructed the riders to return to the left side of the orange bar, and they started on the right side. Bearing in mind that there was no bar at all in the first practice, the stewards felt that everything had been set out in the race director’s instructions as transparently as possible – and issued an official warning to the riders (racing).
This is the first race warning for Gasly and Vettel, the second for Stroll. Five warnings in a season will result in the loss of ten places at the start, while four of them must be “race”, ie received for violating the rules of navigating a ship.
This year, Yuki Tsunoda has the maximum number of warnings – four races. One more warning and the AlphaTauri rider loses ten places at the start.
